How to create a ripple effect

In this tutorial we go through how to make an animated gif of a text ripple effect in adobe photoshop. Start by opening a new file of 650 by 100 pixels and type the text you would like to animate, like the text below.:.

Now create three duplicates of exactly the same text before you add the filter for the animation we are going to use. Open the original file and go to filter; distort, ripple. (see image below.)

In the ripple settings box, set the fill Amount to 100 as shown in the picture below.

Repeat this effect for the duplicates increasing the amount by 10% for each duplicate. So you have one ripple of 100% for the original, 110% for the second copy, 120% for the third and 130% for the fourth. Now open all these images in Adobe image ready to create the animation. Once you have opened the images go to window and select animation. Now do the animation as shown in the picture below. Select paste method for the frames paste after selection for each consecutive image, so you get the images in the right order. (see image below.)

Then set the image delay to 0.1 seconds and you have finished the animation, now you can save the file and preview.

10. Save the file.
